In November 2020, Red Hat Linux 6 reaches end of mainstream support. Current users are advised to either migrate to a supported Red Hat® Enterprise Linux® (RHEL) version or acquire extended support from Red Hat. If a customer acquires extended support, they are eligible to purchase one or both of the following offerings from HCL:

  • BigFix Extended Patch for RHEL 5 & 6 for current and available RHEL 5 & 6 ELS extended support releases.
  • BigFix Extended Patch for RHEL for all current and available RHEL ELS and EUS extended support releases, currently including RHEL 5, 6, 7, and 8.

Both offerings provide continuous content delivery for all RHEL platforms except IBM Z. The BigFix Extended Patch for RHEL offerings eliminates the need for customers to manually discover, curate, test and package extended support content – saving staff time while drastically reducing your window of vulnerability.

Prerequisites: These new product offerings, available November 13, require the following BigFix and Red Hat products:

  • RHEL Extended Lifecycle Support (ELS) and RHEL Extended Update Support (EUS).

  • BigFix Patch, BigFix Compliance, or BigFix Lifecycle

For more information:

For more information, refer to the recent article on the Red Hat Customer Portal. For more information about the new HCL offerings, download the BigFix Extended Patch for RHEL data sheet.
